WHAT IS A DEVELOPMENTAL SCREENING?
A developmental screening is an informative way to learn more about your child's growth and development. A trained staff person will look at the five areas of growth and development by playing with your child with specially designed toys. After the screening, the examiner will be able to tell you how well your child is growing and developing. This is also an opportunity for you to have your questions answered.
The screening includes:
• Gross Motor Skills (Crawling, Walking, Etc.)
• Fine Motor Skills (Hand Skills)
• Adaptive Skills (Self-care, Sleeping, Eating)
• Cognitive Skills (Early Learning, Problem-solving)
• Speech and Language (Talking and Listening)
• Personal/social Skills (Self-help, Play Skills, and Behavior)
WHY SHOULD I HAVE MY CHILD SCREENED?
One in five children may have some developmental delay. Our screening team will give you ideas on how to help your child learn and get ready for school.
HOW CAN I GET MY CHILD SCREENED?
Screenings are done by appointment in your home or in a community setting such as a daycare center, WIC site, health clinic, or office. This learning check-up takes less than a half-hour.
